Little Boy Lost, Book Three

Brian McAllister’s story continues in San Diego, where he finds so much more than he ever expected: acceptance, friends, encouragement, and an entire world of sexual adventure he’d never dared to imagine back in his small Alabama town. He continues to search for one lost boy in a sea of humanity but slowly begins to realize that maybe dreams really don’t come true.
Encouraged by new friends Mike and Emilio, Brian struggles to find work and keep his spirits up while his hope of finding Jamie starts to falter. But when life comes crashing down, he’s desperate to keep his new life. Can Brian do the unthinkable to remain in California when his money runs out? When Brian meets a beaten and bruised boy no one seems willing to help, he knows that walking away is no longer an option.

REVIEW:

In book 3 Brian is changed from the innocent boy to the experienced young man.  He meets new people and is led into a world of sex he could never have imagined being a part of, but it is in this new world that he finds what he is seeking, only to have it snatched away again.  How much more can be expected of a man?
When I read book 3 for the first time I was shocked to say the least.  The tone changed with this book and it became at once more erotic, but also darker in spirit as Brian’s quest to find Jamie continues.

******SPOILER ALERT!*****

I’ve watched a lot of porn since I came out a number of years ago and never really thought about the impact it could have on a person’s body and soul.  VANISHED showed me a side of the porn business I honestly wasn’t prepared for.  Oh, don’t get me wrong, I love the book completely and always will.  It just made me think about what I was actually seeing on the screen when I watched a pornographic movie.  The detail Barnaby captured, the feelings, thoughts and actions of the men on the screen brought to life in the pages of a book with characters I’d grown to care about deeply.
It took a second reading to really get everything that the author has to give in these pages because there really is a lot of information.  The ending alone is a bit of a shock, not just for Brian but for the reader as well.  The story picks up in the next book with a reunion and painful understanding for Brian that things are not exactly what he had hoped for but we see a strong side of this character that makes us love him even more for the hell he has gone through to reach his goal.
Yeah, I put the spoiler alert up there but I guess I didn’t reveal that much did I?  Well, just wait for what comes next.
